-Remember, Confirmation is the beginning of your full life in God’s Church, not the end! All confirmed Teens are welcome to join our Teen Advisory Board, take a leadership role in the SPARK activities and plan for future events.
Confirmation is an important milestone in the life of a Catholic Christian. Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, an individual receives the fullness of the Holy Spirit, becomes a fully initiated member of the Church, and embarks on a lifelong journey of discipleship. Confirmation is not graduation, but rather marks the beginning of adult life in the Church.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish is very proud of an amazing group of teens who take their roles as fully initiated Catholics very seriously. The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is comprised of remarkable confirmed teens who serve as leaders of SPARK Teen Ministry. The TAB meets one Sunday per month to plan youth ministry events and discuss the needs of their peers in the parish. Members of the TAB lead our monthly Teen Mass and service/social events, serve as mentors to our Confirmandi, and act as role models for peers, as well as for the entire parish community. The TAB also has a presence on the Parish Advisory Board, reporting on SPARK events and representing the collective teen voice of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.
In addition to their leadership role in the parish, the TAB also spends time working on service projects of their own, such as working on Habitat for Humanity builds, preparing care packages for St. E’s friends away at college, adopting families at Thanksgiving and Christmas, hosting a Christmas festival for children, creating a prayer board for our Confirmandi, and writing letters to our First Communicants. In coming together to build up the Body of Christ, the group simultaneously grows in friendship and forms lasting bonds.
Teens certainly are the future of the Church, but they equally are the present, as they currently play an integral role in the life of our Catholic community. Members of the Teen Advisory Board set the bar high and show by example that young people do not need to wait until they are older to make a difference; rather they prove that teens ARE a vital part of the St. E’s community right now. Their YES to continued involvement and growing leadership in the Church challenges them to take their faith to the next level and inspires others to follow in their footsteps.
Teens, if you are looking for an opportunity to grow in faith after Confirmation, expand your leadership skills, and make a difference, please consider joining the Teen Advisory Board. Open your heart to the fire of God’s love and answer the call!
Please see our left side bar for monthly meeting info!
