Rev. Stanley C. Barron

Pastor

Father Stan was born in Paterson, NJ. He attended St. Brendan grade school in Clifton and Pope Pius XII High School in Passaic. Father attended Wadhams Hall College in Ogdensburg, NY and Loyola University where he completed his Masters in Guidance Counseling. Later, he attended St Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore and completed his Master’s degree in Sacred Theology. Father also attended Seton Hall University where he completed an Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision.

Father was ordained on 5/4/74 by Bishop Casey and his first assignment was at Bayley Ellard High School, Madison, NJ where he was a guidance counselor and taught Theology. Later he was named Vice Principal of Pope Pius XII and then Principal of Bayley Ellard. A one year sabbatical followed where Father continued studying Theology. Father has served as Vocation Director for our diocese and Director to Ministry to Priests. Before coming to St. Elizabeth’s in 2005, Father was the Pastor of St. Thomas, Ogendensburg, NJ. Besides serving as our pastor, Father is the Vicar for Education and Chair of the Priestly Life Committee and is a member of the Mt. Olive Clergy Association.

Father Stan’s dad recently passed away and his mom passed away in 2000. His brother, Thomas, lives with his wife Robyn in South Carolina. His niece Amanda, lives in Brooklyn. Father has a passion for music, traveling and Volkswagons!

Rev. John Andrew Connell

Weekend Associate

A native of Queens, New York, Father John Andrew was educated by the De La Salle Christian Brothers in Brooklyn, New York and entered the Brothers in February, 1956. He was graduated from Catholic University as a Phi Beta Kappa scholar in 1961. He taught on the Junior and Senior High School level and was Principal of St. Gabriel Boys’ School in Queens, New York and founding principal of the Cranston-Johnson Catholic Regional School in Cranston, Rhode Island. Subsequent to that he was a Director of Religious Education and a member of the Hopestead House of Prayer.

Father John Andrew completed a Masters Degree in History from Manhattan College, a post graduate degree in Religious Studies at Boston College, a Master’s in Divinity at Immaculate Conception Seminary and extensive study in Counseling Psychology at Rhode Island College.

Ordained a priest in November, 1981, Father John Andrew served as parochial vicar at St. Christopher, Parsippany, Annunciation of the B.V.M. in Wayne, Pastor of St. Virgil, Morris Plains, and Administrator of St. Kateri, Sparta and pastor of Resurrection Parish, Randolph. He served as Priest Spiritual Director of the Cursillo Movement in the Diocese, taught Christology to the candidates of the Permanent Diaconate and also served as the Director of Spiritual Formation in the program.

Presently, Father John Andrew serves part-time at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Luke, Long Valley, St. Jude, Budd Lake and Our Lady of the Mountain. He conducts retreats, upon request, for parishes, religious communities and religious organizations.

Deacon Dennis King

Deacon

Dennis and Cathy joined St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish back in the day when Sunday Mass was celebrated in the cafeteria of Mt. View north. They have two grown sons and five grandchildren. Dennis holds degrees from lona College and Montclair University. Cathy graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station and William Paterson.

Dennis worked in Catholic education for fifty years as teacher, catechist and administrator. He has taught all grade levels from kindergarten to senior year of high school.

Msgr. John Wehrlen first approached him about the deaconate program in 1994 and Dennis entered formation in 2000, culminating with his ordination as Permanent Deacon by Bishop Arthur Serratelli in 2005. Since that time Dennis has served various roles in the parish. He preaches regularly at Sunday Mass and helps with the Religious Education Masses and the monthly Holy Hour. He had some seasonal presentations to the Women’s Group here in the parish and to the residents of Mt. Olive Manor. He has presided at wake vigils and was deacon at funerals for deceased members of the St. Elizabeth’s community. He has prepared couples for marriage and witnessed several weddings here at St. Elizabeth’s. His most treasured moments, however, have occurred when he has been able to bring new souls to the Lord through the Sacrament of Baptism. God willing and through His Grace, Dennis looks forward to continuing his ministry to God’s people for many years to come.

Deacon Frank Puglia

Deacon

Deacon Frank has been a member of the parish since 2001. He was previously a member of St. Rose of Lima in East Hanover. While there he served on the Home and School Association, 25th Anniversary Committee and chaired the Building of the Parish Hall. He was ordained to the Diaconate in June 1989. In his almost 25 years of his ordination, Frank has performed many aspects of his ministry. Frank has baptized over 500 children in the parish, officiated in the sacrament of Matrimony, preached the Word of Christ and performed graveside services. He has also administered many of the liturgical services allowed a Deacon, i.e. Exposition & Benediction, Stations of the Cross and Communion Services.

Since 1988, Frank, also serves at the Catholic Chaplin’s office at Morristown Medical Center performing Pre-op ministry. At St. Elizabeth’s, Frank is a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Parish Advisory Board.
